We are committed to protecting your privacy when you visit our website, take part in any of our projects, attend our events or donate to our charity. We value our supporters and donors and we want to ensure we respect your privacy in everything we do.

Personal Data we collect:

We only collect information we need to achieve our charitable objectives. We currently collect and process the following personal information:

  1. Name
  2. Address
  3. Telephone number
  4. Email address (including business email address)
  5. Bank account and payment card details if you have donated to us, if we are required to make a payment to you as a service provider or for donations to the charities we support
  6. Feedback and personal quotes you provide to us including by phone, email, post, at events or when you communicate with us via social media
  7. Information about whether or not you want to receive marketing communications from us.
  8. Contracts and agreements with service providers
  9. Photographs and video from our events and provided by our supported charities
  10. Contact and bank account details of the charities we support
  11. Case studies provided by the charities we support

You are under no obligation to provide any information but if you do not then it might be more difficult to provide you with certain services or information.

How we obtain and use personal data:          

Most of the personal information we process was provided directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  1. Registering for one of our events
  2. Donating to the charity
  3. Account details of service providers and supporters
  4. To respond to enquiries or correspondence
  5. Applying to become one of our supported charities
  6. As a prize winner at one of our events
  7. Agreed to receive marketing emails from us

We always process personal data legally as required by legislation. The different legal bases we rely on are:

  1. Consent: You gave permission to process the data for a specific purpose. Consent can be removed at any time by contacting our Data Protection Officer.
  2. Legitimate Interests: The processing is necessary for us to achieve our charitable objectives or promote our charity.
  3. Performance of a Contract: We must process personal data in order to be able to meet our contractual obligations.
  4. Vital Interests: In an emergency we might provide personal data to save someone’s life.

We use cookies on our website including non-essential cookies. You can decline non-essential cookies.

Cookies are small files normally consisting of letters and numbers which stores information on the user’s computer. They are used in numerous ways, such as to analyse visitor traffic to our website through Google Analytics.

We use cookies on our website to link to social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We also use them to link to third party service providers such as Wonderful for our fundraising activities or that of our supporters through their websites. There are also cookies on our website linking to the websites of our corporate supporters to recognise their support of the charity. We use Eventbrite to register participants at some of our events and we link to their website for this purpose.

How we store your information:

Your information is securely stored on password protected hardware and in secure filing cabinets.

We keep personal data for only as long as necessary. In most cases, our retention period will come to an end 6 years after the end of your relationship with us but we review personal data we hold every two years to establish if it is still necessary for us to store and that the information we hold is accurate. In some cases, we are required to keep personal data for longer to comply with our legal obligations. When we no longer need your personal data or have a legal obligation to store the data, we will dispose of your information by deleting it from all our systems and securely disposing of paper files.

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

  2. Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to rectify information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you. We might require you to provide proof of your identity.

How to complain:

In the first instance please send complaints to our Data Protection Officer. If you are not happy with the response you received from us or how we used your data, please send your complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
